  • Cycle To Work Road Show

Our Cycle to Work Road Show.

"Let us bring Our Shop to your Premises!"

McLoughlin Cycles are part of the bike to work designated bicycle shops that go into companies/schools and display our range of bicycles and explain about the cycle to work and the tax savings to be had and also we have a large range of brands of bicycles that would suit everybody's needs.

If you can accommodate us within your company for a day to display and explain the cycle to work scheme and the saving to be gained by the staff and depending on signup/sales, and as an appreciation of your time and cooperation we would supply you or your Staff Social Committee with a FREE bicycle-the more cycle to work sales to us the more expensive the FREE bike would be for the staff social committee. We would like to arrange a day with your Company to come in to your company and Showcase our range of bicycles and give your staff a chance to test ride the bicycles on the day if they wish.

We as a bicycle shop and distributor would like to take this opportunity for your staff to avail of this savings of up to 52% and if your staff member wishes to view our range of both aluminium and carbon bikes from hybrid-road racing-mountain ATB and 29ers, we can do a road show either in your company or we can set up with our mobile unit in your car park area or within your company and have a display of bicycle and parts where your staff can test ride our range of Trek, Fuji, Cube, Merida and Giant.

We would like also to explain the difference in the tax rate savings to your members. And as an extra service we deliver the bicycles down to your company and come back 6 weeks later to do a Free Service on site.

I would like to take this opportunity to Invite your Companies Branch, to a day where we can set up in the your canteen or other area within your company so we can explain the scheme in full and without any flaws to your staff and invite them to see our range which they can sign up on the day.

We have on offer to all Staffing who sign up with us on the day for a Free package of Helmet, Lights and Lock for all your employees who decide to run with ourselves and spend more than €500 on a bike.

We as a company have been established in Newbridge, Co. Kildare area since 1935 and pride ourselves in Sales and after sale service Nationwide.

If you would like to arrange a date for a presentation or if you want to meet me to discuss the cycle to work scheme, please contact me on 087 2376580.

  • Cycle to Work Scheme

Who is eligible for the tax exemption?
Employees are eligible for the exemption through the participation of their employer, who must operate the scheme. The cost of the bike can be funded either directly by the employer or through a salary sacrifice arrangement with the employee. If the bicycle is purchased directly by the employer, it can be claimed as a tax exempt benefit in kind. Where it is financed via a salary sacrifice, the employee saves on income tax, levies and PRSI.
    How does it work?
The employee chooses the bicycle and equipment he or she wants and the employer purchases the on his or her behalf. Tax relief is available on purchases up to a maximum value of €1,000.
    When does the exemption begin?
The scheme, which was introduced by the Green Party in the 2008 budget, came into operation on 1 January 2009.
What sort of equipment is covered by the scheme?
Tax relief is available on a wide range of cycling gear and equipment – pretty much everything you would need. This list includes helmets, lights, locks, bells, mirrors, cycle clips, panniers, luggage carriers & straps, pumps, puncture repair kits, cycle tool kits, reflective clothing and reflectors.
Is there a limit to the number of employees in a company who can participate?
Once an employer agrees to participate, there is no limit to the number of employees who can avail of the scheme. However, the scheme can only be used by an employee once every five years.
Why is the scheme being brought in?
The Government is trying to encourage commuters to give up the car for shorter journeys. In Dublin, a city well suited to cycling, only 3-4% of commuters cycle to work. By contrast, in Copenhagen over one third of commuters get to work on the bike. More people cycling to work reduces traffic congestion, improves fitness levels and reduces our carbon dioxide emissions.
